"Fonzie"
 

born 19.6.1981 color: black & white

TTs weren't easily available in the late 1970's. When our first booked puppy from friend's bitch died at birth we had to wait a year for another. So, I guess Fonzie was more expected than me. He got his name from that once cool tv-show Happy Days. Right away he gained his place as a family member and charmed everyone. When friends called they first asked how is Fonzie, he received Christmas presents and birthday cakes. Mum even forgot my birthday twice but never his!

We never thought of going to a show but decided to please the breeder and enter once. Mum was disaster at handling and Fonzie qualified with "good" and critique: "Nice dog but handler needs more ring training."

That's how I got my start in handling and before anyone noticed, me and Fonzie had won our very first Junior Handling competition. Year later we took the Finnish Junior Handling Championship of 1984. I was 11.

We did a good job at the breed rings too: Fonzie finished Nordic Champion gaining Best of Breeds and Group placings all around.

The dog handling soon became a serious hobby and kept me quite busy at the shows. First it was just Tibetan Terriers, then Tibetan Spaniels, Shih Tzus, Salukis, Afghan Hounds, English Bulldogs, Scottish Terriers, Bullmastiff, Skye Terriers - you name it. The more we started showing own dogs the more I had to cut down showing other breeds. Nowadays I fully concentrate on showing dogs of our Falamandus team or occasionally their offspring.

We lost Fonzie at 16,5 years but his spirit never dies.
