If there's anyone to thank or to blame for Falamandus' start in Tibetan Terriers, it is mrs Tuula Plathan of Karamain kennel. Already having two males from her we weren't really thinking of having a bitch - at least not yet - or, at least not admitting it to my dad who threatened to move to neighbour's if there was one more pet…
However, Tuula surprised me with a gift: having shown her breeding across Scandinavia I was now free to choose any puppy from her litters! I had been with the breed for nearly a decade and had recently seen her beautiful French import dame Ch Cara-Nor Ponya Gyalo du Kyil-Khor, so it was an easy choice. That's how we got our brood bitch Babette and an idea to respect her French roots by giving French names to our future pups.

Babette was moderately sized, some 36,5cm, and she could have used an inch more of legs. On the other hand she was full of sturdiness and quality. She was short & square with feminine head and big dark eyes, big flat feet and thrilling movement. She had a round body and a front & chest to die for. She was well angulated and grew a super coat. And boy, was she fun! Sweet and smart, brave and dramatic, all in one package. There wasn't a day you'd see her drop her tail - a characteristic you'll see in our Falamandus TTs today. So if you think of it, we had quite a lucky start!

We lost Babette at some 13 years. Her advantages are the qualities I now try to cherish in Falamandus breeding.
